Conditions Treated

Are you experiencing any problems with your vision? If so, our optometrist at Indigo Vision Center in Georgetown, SC, can help. We are proud to provide a wide range of optometry services to meet the needs of our patients. We treat various conditions, including:

Astigmatism

Astigmatism is a common vision problem that can cause blurred or distorted vision. It occurs when the cornea is not shaped correctly. Our optometrist can diagnose astigmatism and prescribe corrective lenses to help improve your vision. They can also recommend other treatments, such as refractive surgery, to correct the problem.

Diabetic Retinopathy

Diabetic retinopathy is a common complication of diabetes. When high blood sugar levels damage the blood vessels in the retina, it can cause vision problems. If you have diabetes, it is essential to have regular comprehensive dilated eye exams, so our optometrist can check for signs of diabetic retinopathy. In addition, early detection and treatment are necessary to help prevent vision loss.

Dry Eye

Dry eye occurs when the eyes do not produce enough tears or evaporate too quickly. This condition can cause discomfort, blurred vision, and an increased risk of eye infections. Our optometrist can help diagnose and treat dry eye with artificial tears, ointments, and other treatments.

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a severe eye condition that can lead to vision loss. It occurs when pressure builds up in the eye, damaging the optic nerve. Glaucoma is a symptom of various factors, including genetics, age, and certain medical conditions. Our optometrist performs tests, such as the visual field test and the glaucoma screening, to check for signs of glaucoma. If they detect glaucoma, they provide treatment to help slow the progression of the disease and preserve vision.

Computer Vision Syndrome

If you spend a lot of time looking at screens, you may be at risk for Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS). This condition can cause various symptoms, including eyestrain, headaches, and blurred vision. Our optometrist can prescribe special glasses or contact lenses to help reduce symptoms. They can also provide tips on reducing your risk of developing the condition, such as taking breaks from screen time and using proper lighting.

Myopia and Hyperopia

Myopia and hyperopia are common vision problems that cause blurred vision, difficulty reading, and eye fatigue. Myopia occurs when the eyeball is too long, or the cornea is too curved. This curvature causes light to focus in front of the retina instead of on it. Hyperopia occurs when the eyeball is too short, or the cornea is too flat. This flatness causes light to focus behind the retina. Our optometrist can prescribe corrective lenses to improve your vision.
